Frequently asked questions

Q:How do I install the software?
A:Please click here for instructions
You must use your Order Id #, your email address from the time of purchase and your installation lock number which is to the left of the Authorization code area to unlock your Authorization code which installs the program. You must click the button next to the Installation lock number to take you to our website in which you will have to plug in all of your information that I have listed above and then you will receive your Authorization code. (Make sure to write down the installation lock number before going to the website). Once you get your Authorization code, put that into the Authorization code screen that is in red on the previous page where you got your installation lock number and then click Install.

Q:If I order software for immediate download, how will I receive my software?
A: Once you have paid for your purchase, you will be taken to a page that contains links to pages where you can download your product. On that page you will be offered a choice of two files formats: .zip and .exe. The .zip file is a standard WinZip archive containing all the files you need to install your Exam software. You may need WinZip to extract the files. In some cases, your email software will automatically extract the files for you, so you may not need WinZip. America Online users, for example, will not need WinZip.  If you do need WinZip, you can get it at WinZip.com.

Note:  HEALS software products are copy-protected.  When you run the installation program, you will be asked for an Authorization code.  Click here for more information.

Q:Can I take an exam more than once on the computer?
A: Yes, you may take the exams as many times as you like. When you first run the software, you are given a choice: Who will use this program? Multiple Users or a Single User. Most people choose Single User. If that is the choice you made, then simply start the program, select the exam you want to take again, and click on "Start taking exam". If you had chosen Multiple Users when you first ran the program, start the program and log in before taking the exam again. You should see your name in a list of users who have used the program. Select your name and enter the password you had provided the first time you used it. If you cannot remember your password, simply create another user account.

Q:What is classroom mode and how can I use it?
A: In classroom mode, HEALS Exam software will provide the correct answers as well as hints to the questions.  Instructors can enable this feature to make the product a learning tool instead of a test. You can enable and disable this feature by logging in as admin when you start the program. Enter admin as both your username and password and you will be prompted as to whether you want classroom mode enabled.

Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you now. You will need to restart Windows before you can run setup again. Click cancel to exit setup without updating system files. A: This problem is caused by a file having the wrong version.  Microsoft has identified the problem and has a solution posted in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.  Here is a link to the article where you can find a solution: Microsoft Knowledge Base article 174135 .  The solution is to follow the instructions, which recommend clicking OK, which fixes the file and reboots your computer.

If you do all of that and the problem occurs again, Microsoft has also identified that problem.  Here is a link to the article where you can find a solution: Microsoft Knowledge Base article 191096.  There are a number of solutions listed in the knowledge base article.  some of the easy ones to try are:

  • Delete all the files in your C:\Temp, C:\Windows\Temp, or C:\WINNT\Temp folder
  • Turn off your virus scanning software during the time you install the software.  Another way to do this is to install the software from Safe Mode.
  • Make sure you are logged in as the Administrator when you install this and other software.  If you have insufficient permissions, it may not be possible to install all the files required.
